Notes to 2009 GMC Sierra Hybrid Truck

The 2009 GMC Sierra Hybrid truck can run on fully electric till about 30mph even towing something. When it reaches that speed the 6.0L V-8 gas engine kicks in, with transmission gears returning to the original shifting pattern, and the gas engine economizes by running on 4, 6 or 8 cylinders, depending on how much power the truck requires to do the job. The truck has a 26 gallon gas tank, and GM expects a 500 mile cruising range. It has 19.6 mpg.

Response to 2010 Tesla Roadster

I think this research was a little helpful because it shows that a electric car can work just as good or better then a gas powered car. It does change my thinking because it makes me wonder if this whole electric car will really take off because the car is fairly new. The new ideas would be if they made other types of vehicles fully electric like trucks. The questions I would ask is the two questions earlier in the paragraph.

Notes on 2010 Tesla Roadster

This is a fully electric car. Its a 2-seat, open-top, rear-drive sports car. With Single speed fixed gear with electrically actuated parking lock mechanism and mechanical lubrication pump. The motor is 375 volt AC induction air-cooled electric motor with variable frequency drive. With output of 288 peak horsepower (215kW) and 273 lb-ft of torque. Redline at 14,000 rpm. The car goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, and reaches speeds of 125 mph (electronically limited), and goes 244 miles on a single charge, and the battery life is seven years or 100,000 miles.

Second Peer Blog Response

Overall it was interesting reading your blog and I learned new information reading it. I didn't find your blog boring by any means but at some points I got thrown off by the spelling. I think that if you proofread your blog would come out a lot better. Problems you had were spelling words wrong, apostrophes, and not finishing words like you said "I" instead of "it". Your information was great and it was very useful but you should make better transitions to sentences instead of going straight to the information. One point you wrote "What I found helpful is I found..." and to me I didn't sound smooth and it made me stop reading and made me think about it which took my mind off your blog. I thought you found great websites and I liked how you mixed it up by asking a question in you Honda FCX notes and then you answered the question you asked. You just need to make your notes longer. I think you have a great topic and did well with the research you just need to work on the grammer and spelling. PROOFREAD. Overall good job.

nicely done.

Second Peer Blog Response

I think the idea of this blog is great and is helpful. The world is changing and new more efficient cars are needed. I like the idea of new cars in the future and better more effective cars but i think it would also help to find other things like how cars in whole are improving and how fuel companies are improving and other things besides just the cars. Your notes are very brief and i think effects the length of the response. I like how you would ask a question then proceed to find an article that answered it int he next post. I think you should find more wide based articles to write notes and a response on. You did not have any citations of any of your articles and that is a problem. You need to give credit to all of the articles or your grade will greatly be effected. You also only have 3 notes and responses. Just take longer notes on more detailed articles. Your blog looks very good but you are missing an article and all citations and that needs to be done soon.

Reasponse to "How a Hybrid Car Works"

I found that this is helpful because I found out how a hybrid car works. I adds to what I have learned for the same reason being that I found out how a hybrid car works. It dosen't really change my thinking on anything but how they are going to improve the hybrid car in the future which leads to the question I would ask which is how will the hybrid car be improved in the future.

Notes on "How a Hybrid Car Works"

A hybrid car works as a regular internal combustion engine but with a electric motor to take over some of the cars power to lessin the amount of fuel used. A hybrid car does not need to be charged like a full electric car because the hybrids battery gets recharged by putting on the brakes because of the friction caused by braking is turned into electricity and stored away in the battery for later use.

Response to "2010 Toyota Prius"

I didn't find anything helpful just that it is a different fuel efficient car, and it is one of the biggest seller fuel efficient car in the world. It adds to what I learned because it is a different efficient car. It doesn't really change my thinking but its make me wonder if the hybrid will stay the top sellers, or will the new hydrogen fuel cell car get up in the charts. It deepens my knowledge by the understanding of a hybrid cars. I would ask the same question as before which is how does a hybrid car really work.

Notes on "2010 Toyota Prius"

The 2010 toyota prius is still a four door hatchback, and sits five people, but now a 1.8-liter gasoline engine that produces 98 horsepower and 105 pound-feet of torque that's used in conjunction with two electric motors and a special planetary gearset that functions as a continuously variable transmission. Total power is 134 hp. the car has 50 mpg. It is ranked 4 of 24 affordable midsize cars. the electric and gas engines are more powerful, and the battery is smaller but till powers the car longer. It is estimated that out of all the hybrids in the world sold 80% of them are the prius

Response to "Honda FCX"

What I found helpful is I found that newest idea in efficient cars, and lerned and understood a lot about it. What it addes to my topis is just it is one of many fuel efficient cars. It doesn't chang my thinking about anything. The new questions I might ask is how does the hydrogen fuell cell engine acually work. There aren't any new developments in my topic because this car is that lastest development. I dont really need any background infromation to understand about the car ecept I would like to know how the engine works.

Notes on "Honda FCX"

The Honda FCX is over 397 pounds lighter, has 120% better power to weight ratio. 20% more fuel efficient, and has a powertrain that is 45% more compact and 10% more energy efficient. What Is a fuel cell powerd car? Well it is a electric motor running on electricity generated by a hydrogen-powerd fuel cell stack. How you would refuel this car is at the designated hydrogen refueling stations witch would be at your house and fuels your car with gaseous hydrogen, and in messuerd in Kilograms, and not gallon like gas but 1 gallon is gas is that same as 1 Kg of gaseous hydrogen. This car is the newest in efficient car ideas, and becoming quite popular.

5 paragraph essay

1) This topic interests me because of the different and creative ideas to make a more efficient car. I think this topic will interest me for the next 5 – 6 months because of the new ideas coming out that I can research. I don’t think this research will have a impact on my future at all. The questions I might ask are what are the newest ideas for more efficient cars? What is the most efficient car? What was the first efficient car? How has the ideas improved sense the first idea of more efficient cars?

2) There is a new idea coming out for a hydrogen fuel cell car. Also electric cars are becoming more powerful, and being able to drive longer on a single charge. One of the articles that I found was “fuel cell vs. batteries”. The argument was about whether or not a fuel call powered car or an electric car or battery powered car were better. Another one was “ Tesla motors: electric car” which was an fully battery powered car that was a sports car that could reach speeds of 244mph and drive as long as 241 miles to a charge. Also there was one on solar powered cars and all that was about were different solar powered cars. I think a lot of helpful info was found browsing the internet other then like the New York Times and thing like that.

3) Sources of information are news papers, magazines like popular science, and popular mechanics. Also a lot of web sites like different car manufactures stay green sites, and other websites. Also TV like discover channel, and the science channel. I feel that finding information about my topic is very easy because of all the different recourses of that are about my topic. Two books on my topic are Fuel Efficient Car Technology by M. L. Poulton and is about Poulton's concern with fuel economy improvement in cars. Another book is Gas Guzzling by Adam Reitzes and is about buying the more efficient cars. These book would help me by giving me information and different view points on more efficient cars.

4) The dates of the articles that I found were mostly updated in October 2009. Over the next few months of researching this topic I think new ideas might come out, or some improvements on old ideas. What I would like to find out is a different idea on a fuel efficient car. The reason that my topic will change over time is the problem is not resolved to were there is a totally non using fuel car that is affordable, and then we cancel out having to use gas all the way for cars.

5) Five ways these topics will force me to think is one I have to think about how I'm going to find new information. Two is I might think about different things about every different car. Three would be having to learn about fuel efficient cars, four is how they work and five is when will fuel efficient cars really start to be a big deal. Who I might ask about my topic is maybe a engineer, or the inventor of a fuel efficient car or even a dealer. The reason they might be a good source of information is they would know the most about fuel efficient cars. I could go to a car dealership, or a factory to find the engineer. This would be helpful because I think I would get a lot of information for the present efficient cars, and future efficient cars. I could observe a efficient car vs. a gas guzzling car, and compare different things. But I think that would be hard to do. For the reason I don't know anyone with a fuel efficient car, and I don't have the equipment to compare both cars.
